Hemp Brick Battery:
The Wall That Powers Your Home

Stop Mining. Start Growing. Build a Grid That Breathes.

Imagine a world where your house doesn’t just shelter you – it powers you. Where the walls themselves are the battery, built from plants, not mines. No rare earth metals. No toxic waste. No global supply chains. Just hemp, carbon, and the future.
Welcome to the Hemp Brick Battery (HBB) revolution.

The Problem: A Broken Grid

Our energy transition is stuck. We’re replacing fossil fuels with lithium-ion batteries that rely on destructive mining, scarce resources, and fragile global logistics. We’re building a green future on a dirty foundation.

The Solution: The Living Wall

We’ve engineered the Hemp Brick Battery—a dual-purpose building block that acts as both a structural wall and a high-capacity energy storage unit.

  • Carbon-Negative Construction: Made from Dutch hemp and bio-char, every brick sequesters CO₂ while it’s built.
  • Zero-Mining Chemistry: Uses a planar Zinc-Carbon cell. No cobalt, no lithium, no conflict minerals.
  • Surface-Area Power: By turning the entire wall into a giant electrode, we bypass the power-density limits of traditional batteries.
  • Built to Last: Fire-resistant, mold-proof, and fully recyclable.
Your home is no longer a consumer of energy. It’s a producer.

How It Works

  1. Grow: Hemp is cultivated on marginal land, absorbing carbon.
  2. Transform: Seed husks are converted into high-surface-area hard carbon foam via hydrothermal carbonization.
  3. Build: The carbon core is embedded in a magnesium-oxide hempcrete binder, creating a self-contained Zn-carbon cell.
  4. Connect: Bricks are wired in series/parallel to form a modular wall, storing solar energy for night-time use.
  5. Live: A pilot wall that stores enough to power a household’s critical loads.

The Pilot: Amsterdam, 2026

We are building the world’s first Public Hemp Battery Wall in the heart of Amsterdam.

  • Location: City Center (Strategic public art & tech demo).
  • Timeline: August 2026 – August 2027.
  • Goal: Prove the tech, engage the community, and unlock the path to a decentralized grid.
This isn’t just a wall. It’s a statement.

Why Now?

  • Energy Crisis: Net congestion and high battery costs are stalling the transition.
  • Housing Shortage: Amsterdam needs sustainable, rapid construction solutions.
  • Climate Urgency: We need carbon-negative tech today.
  • Local Resilience: A grid that doesn’t rely on global shipping or mining is a grid that can’t be broken.

Join the Revolution

Green Revolution Foundation is joing with the 3D Makers Zone Haarlem to bring this to life.

We are looking for:

  • Partners: Hemp farmers, material suppliers, and energy innovators.
  • Funders: Visionaries ready to back the next leap in sustainable tech.
  • Community: Residents and activists ready to power their homes with plants.
Together, we can build a grid that grows. Reach out:
